When the Manna Stops

Shortly after the Children of Israel left Egypt they ran out of food and God started giving them manna. They traveled to Canaan land and sent in the twelve spies. The spies gave a report that it was a land flowing with milk and honey, which identified it as the promised land, but that they were not able to take the land.

If they were starving and desperate they would have tried to take the land, but they had manna to eat every morning and their clothes were not wearing out. Ultimately, the Children of Israel allowed the sustenance of God to fulfill their desire for the promises of God.

I want to warn you today. Do not give up on the promises of God because you have become content with the blessings of God. It is easy to become complacent in the abundance of blessings that God pours out on us, but we must not allow ourselves to let blessings take the place of the covenant.

This generation of Israel gave up on the promised land and chose an easy life in the wilderness over a life of fighting for the promise. When they did this, they sealed the fate of that generation, that they would have to die in the wilderness.

You see, in times of peace, warriors die and are not replaced.

In times of plenty, prayer warriors are not reproduced in the church.

In times of abundance intercessors stop interceding.

All of that changes when the manna stops.

You see, in this type of wilderness there is no sowing, just reaping.

You can be lazy and still eat.

But when you step into the promise and the manna stops, that all changes.

If you quit fighting you quit eating.

If you don’t take new territory there are no spoils to sustain you.

So many people want to be an intercessor without all night prayer.

People want to have spiritual authority without facing demonic powers.

Others want to be used by God, but don’t want to pray and fast.

We have been in a season where it has been so easy, but a fight is on the way.

You see, to walk in the promise you have to leave the manna behind.

You will have to fight for every inch of ground that you take.

It will not be easy.

It will cost you.

But it is the will of God.

It will be worth it.

Every scar will be worth the promise.

The first time Israel came to the promised land and sent in spies, God permitted them to flee into the wilderness and provided for them until that generation was purged in the wilderness.

The second time they came to Canaan, God told Joshua to have the Ark of the Covenant carried into and across the river into the promised land. Once they had eaten of the old corn the manna stopped.

This second time, they didn’t have a choice. The presence of God was going into the promise and if they turned back there was going to be no more manna and no more provision in the wilderness. Most importantly the presence of God was not going back.

In this hour, we have reached a point of no return. As the church, we are at a place where God is going into the promised land. If we try to remain in the wilderness we will be left behind. Time is short and we cannot lose another generation to the wilderness.

God is going to use somebody just like He used Peter and Paul. Our decision is, will it be us or will we remain in the wilderness.
